Being active
Here are some places to find practical guidance on being active during your cancer treatment and beyond.
- Cancer Research UK advice on exercise and keeping active is available.
- NHS Fitness studio has a variety of online fitness videos that you can do at home.
- Macmillan has a lot of information about exercise during and after treatment, including an online physiotherapist who can help give personal advice.
Local centres supporting exercise
- HealthWorks Eastleigh Gym, an NHS accredited physical activity referral scheme.
- Ramblers offer local walks in Southampton and a cuppa afterwards if you would like to stay and chat. Some walks aimed at people living with and beyond cancer.
- Saints Foundation, the Saints football team charity, offers a wide range of local exercise sessions. Some are just for older people, helping them to get back to health or to keep active.

- Parkrun - free, weekly 5k runs, organised in local parks all over the UK
- Maggie’s Southampton hosts an exercise group every Tuesday, 10 to 11am with our instructor Gordon. It is free to join, just come over to Maggie’s or call us on 023 8212 4549. Alternatively, you can email southampton@maggies.org to find out more information.
