Sarcoma

The Southampton sarcoma service is part of the wider London sarcoma service and a specialist designated treatment centre nationally commissioned to deliver radical and palliative oncological treatment and care for patients with soft tissue and bone sarcoma within the central South Coast. Our sarcoma team also offer a diagnostic service for all suspected sarcoma referrals. We are based at Southampton General Hospital.

Our patients come from a huge geographical area, from Weymouth to Worthing and including the Isle of Wight, Channel Islands, and stretching to the outskirts of Basingstoke. Our patients often receive part of their care (such as surgery or symptom control) in different hospitals, and numerous community teams (including district nursing, advanced nurse practitioners and palliative care) can be involved. Our clinical nurse specialists help make sure we all communicate in an efficient and timely way.
