Patient Hub for digital letters

Patient Hub is a secure online portal used by University Hospital Southampton which allows patients to view and manage upcoming appointments on their smartphones or computers.

Patients can then confirm attendance, request to rebook or cancel their appointments and will also be able view appointment letters.

How Patient Hub works

When a new appointment is made for a patient, an SMS text message and/or email is sent to the patient.

The SMS/email contains a link that the patient clicks to begin the process of accessing their appointments and appointment letters stored securely in the Patient Hub website.

Patients follow the steps below to access their letters.

  1. Click on the link provided in the text message/email from Patient Hub.
  2. The screen will default to ‘Sign in with mobile’; this can be changed to ‘Sign in with email’ if preferred.
  3. When prompted, enter your mobile number or email address together with your date of birth.
  4. Patient Hub then sends a 6-digit authentication code by SMS or email.
  5. Enter the 6-digit code (please be aware, for security the authentication code expires after two minutes).
  6. Patients are then securely logged into Patient Hub and can access their letters.

Important

The hospital needs to have up-to-date contact details for patients to be able to receive the links.

Key things to remember

  • When you are contacted by text or email, please log in as soon as possible (within 24 hours) to avoid getting further notifications and save us sending your letter in the post.
  • When you log in, please accept the appointment and view your letter and any additional information. Once the appointment is marked ‘accepted’ you will still be able to request a rebooking or cancellation.
  • If you need to rebook or cancel an appointment, please give at least 3 working days’ notice where possible, to enable us to reuse the appointment slot for someone else.
