Surgery
We carry out some routine elective surgery, as well as major and complex trauma surgery and tertiary surgical services.
- Breast and endocrine surgery
- Cardiac (heart) surgery
- Eye surgery
- Gastrointestinal surgery
- Neurosurgery
- Oral and maxillofacial surgery
- Thoracic (chest cavity) surgery
- Urological surgery
- Vascular (blood vessel) surgery
These services are supported by our intensive care units, specialist anaesthetics services and other imaging and therapy services.
We have also worked on reducing the length of time that you need to stay in hospital after surgery, and increasing the numbers of patients who can have surgery and go home on the same day. Find out more about our enhanced recovery programme, helping you to be well enough to return home sooner after your surgery.
Perioperative care
Perioperative care is where healthcare professionals are involved in your care before, during and after you have surgery. Most patients having major surgery will go through the perioperative medicine service. Find out more about the services we provide on our perioperative care pages.
