- Mr Ash Monga
Consultant urogynaecologist
Mr Monga has worked for the Trust since 1997 was the first subspecialist in urogynaecology in the UK. Patients are referred to Mr Monga by other gynaecologists from across the south of England, as Southampton is recognised nationally and internationally for urogynaecology. His research is regularly presented at national and international meetings, and he has a keen interest in education and training, having published a number of medical textbooks, including postgraduate textbooks in urogynaecology.
He has held various positions of responsibility including:
- 1994 - 1999 Secretary and co-founder of the Research Urogynaecology Society
- 2001 - 2006 Chair of BSUG Meetings committee
- 2000 - 2003 Member of the Wellbeing Research Advisory Committee
- 2006 - 2009 Secretary of BSUG
- 2006 - 2012 Member of RCOG Council
- 2008 - 2011 Chairman of the Publications committee of the International Urogynecological Association (IUGA)

- 2016 - now European Urogynaecology Association - Chair of Industry liaison committee
Academic achievement summary:
- 2000 - held 5 visiting professorships - Canada, Texas, South Africa, India (2016), Sassari university, Sardinia (2019)
- 1997 - now over 50 peer reviewed publications
- 1997 - given over 500 invited lectures with over 200 on the international stage
- 1994 - edited 4 text books and written over 40 chapters for a variety of gynaecological text books and review articles for a number of journals.
- Miss Melissa Davies
Consultant urologist
Miss Davies joined the Southampton specialised mesh complications service in 2021 to provide additional specialist support in reconstructive urology. Her expertise includes bladder reconstruction, prolapse management and failed previous continence surgery.
She qualified at St George's Hospital Medical School, London, then completed the London specialist training programme in urology and undertook a fellowship in urogynaecology and female urology in Leicester General Hospital.
Miss Davies' professional interests include the management of female pelvic floor disorders, including prolapse and continence problems, and the urological management of patients who have neurological disability and spinal injuries. She also provides a tertiary service for continence management.
Miss Davies has specialist interests in urogynaecology/female urology, neuro-urology, video-urodynamics and urinary tract infections.
- Mr Tom Dudding
Consultant colorectal surgeon
Mr Dudding is a specialist colorectal and pelvic floor surgeon. He has extensive experience in the management of complex pelvic floor disorders and is trained in minimally invasive resection and prolapse surgery. He is considered an international expert in the field of neuromodulation for bowel disorders.
Mr Dudding studied at University College London, where he received the John Briffa prize for outstanding academic and extra-curricular achievement, then trained in the Wessex region and at St Mark’s Hospital, London.
He sits on the European experts advisory board for sacral nerve stimulation, and the executive board of the Neuromodulation Society of the United Kingdom and Ireland. He has previously held posts as the membership secretary and as the research and development lead for the Pelvic Floor Society of Great Britain and Ireland, for which he is the current chair-in-waiting.
He has published widely in the field of colorectal and pelvic floor surgery and has been an invited key-note speaker at numerous national and international conferences over the last 15 years.
- Dr Jo Harding
Consultant in anaesthesia and pain medicine
Dr Harding has been a consultant in anaesthesia and pain medicine since 2020, working jointly between UHS and Solent NHS Trust. She sees patients who have been referred to the pain team from the Southampton specialised mesh complications service, working closely with pain nurse Helen and alongside our psychologist, Hannah.
- Dr Ellie Hyde
Dr Hyde is a consultant in anaesthesia and pain medicine
Dr Hyde has been a consultant in anaesthesia and pain medicine since 2021. She trained across Central and Southwest London before relocating to Hampshire. She sees patients who have been referred to the pain team from the mesh referral service, working closely with the rest of the multidisciplinary team.

- Melissa Allen
Clinical nurse specialist (advanced practice registered nurse) for mesh and urogynaecology
Melissa is our clinical nurse specialist. She has been a nurse since 2005, and started working in urogynaecology in 2015. She also runs nurse-led clinics within the urogynaecology service.
Melissa is available to support every woman referred to the service, and will be at your mesh service outpatient appointment to offer guidance and answer any questions you have. She will be your first point of contact to give you advice and liaise with other services. If you have an operation, Melissa will be with you before and afterwards, and continues to follow up with everyone until they leave our service.
- Helen Jones
Lead pain nurse
Helen is the lead nurse for the adult inpatient pain service, and has worked in pain management since 2005. She has a Masters in pain management and is a non-medical independent prescriber. She has experience of working with pain outpatients in her previous role as a clinical nurse specialist in pain management in London.
Helen will be undertaking nurse led clinics supported by pain consultants, Dr Jo Harding and Dr Ellie Hyde and will review patients referred to her by these consultants.
Patients who have surgery may also meet the inpatient pain service nursing team during their hospital stay where their pain needs will be assessed.
- Dr Hannah Graydon
Counselling psychologist
Hannah works within clinical health psychology supporting patients with long term health conditions. She has a particular interest in women’s health care and in supporting the psychological wellbeing of women in the Southampton specialised mesh complications service.
Many of the symptoms women experience from mesh surgery can affect emotional well-being and quality of life. They may also have some difficult decisions to make regarding treatment options and may find talking to a psychologist helpful.
Psychologists recognise the relationship between physical and emotional health and take a holistic approach to supporting your emotional well-being throughout your experience of the Southampton specialised mesh complications service. Hannah can offer you a non-judgemental and confidential space to talk through your experiences of mesh, how it has made you feel and how you are coping at present.
- Virginia Rivers Bulkeley
Physiotherapist
Virginia is a specialist women’s and pelvic health physiotherapist, with specialist interests in persistent pelvic pain and postpartum pelvic floor dysfunction. She has experience of working in complex mesh centres, designing and delivering services for women with vaginal mesh associated complications.
Virginia helps women with their pelvic floor health, improving bladder, bowel and sexual function.
She is Chair of the Pelvic, Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy (POGP) Society’s mesh centres working group, supporting clinical education and research across the United Kingdom and Ireland.
- Lorraine Easey-Wiltshire
MDT coordinator
Lorraine has worked at UHS particularly in women’s services since 2017. Lorraine has a background of caring for people with learning disabilities and women's health admin. Lorraine joined the mesh service in March 2022 and coordinates the referrals, MDT’s and appointments. Lorraine is the first point of contact for patients and referrers.
