Clinical nurse specialists (urology)
Our service is based at Southampton General Hospital.
We are available Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm (excluding bank holidays).
Depending on the specific type of cancer, patients will be followed by one or more clinical nurse specialists (CNS) acting as a key worker. Our varied team comprises members specialised in each of the different cancers affecting urinary tracts and male reproductive system and will be responsible for coordinating your care.

The support we can offer you includes
- Answering questions or clarifying concerns about diagnosis, treatment or follow ups.
- Making sure you can benefit from a safe space and enough time to discuss your condition’s management appropriately.
- Providing help and guidance to you and your carers regarding treatment and possible side effects.
- Ensuring close liaison with other agencies or health care providers to promote continuity of care.
- Supporting patients and carers in the shared decision-making process and coming to terms with potentially life-changing diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.
- Signposting and recommending other sources of information and advice.
