Screening for women with disabilities
Women who have special needs, such as a physical or a learning disability, are asked to contact the breast screening unit.
The breast screening unit will arrange an appointment at the Princess Anne Hospital. The breast screening unit at Princess Anne is accessible for wheelchair users and those with mobility or other complex health needs. It is also possible to have a supporter or carer attend screening appointments booked at the Princess Anne Hospital.
We can allow more time for screening appointment at Princess Anne Hospital than the time per appointment on the mobile units. If you have a disability and have been invited to an appointment on a mobile unit, please contact us or ask someone to contact us for you to re-arrange your appointment
If you are a carer for a woman with special needs who has been invited for screening, please see links to resources that may assist you in providing support through the screening process:
An easy guide to breast screening is available on the GOV.UK website.
A video or DVD about the breast screening service is available on request, please contact us.
