Stroke service clinical outcomes

UHS has a stroke service that provides local hyper acute stroke care around the clock and a regional thrombectomy (blood clot removal) service seven days a week covering the Wessex region.

We also provide acute stroke rehabilitation for local patients at UHS. We are part of the integrated stroke delivery network, working closely as a region to streamline stroke services and use our shared learning to ensure we provide the best stroke care to our patients.

UHS stroke service has been scoring an overall A grade consecutively for five years on SSNAP (Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme) the latest report is a B which is a reflection of the impact of the current COVID situation within the NHS as a whole.

We meet regularly as a multi-disciplinary team to review our data and ensure we act upon any issues this raises.
