Hearing therapy services

We have a specially trained hearing therapist within our team who is able to offer extra support for adult patients with hearing loss, bothersome tinnitus and hyperacusis.

Our hearing therapist will be able to help with communication skills and listening tactics for hearing aid users and can provide strategies and equipment for managing tinnitus and hyperacusis.

Please note we can only see patients who have been referred to this service.

Tinnitus management

Tinnitus is the perception of sound without an external source. It can be heard in one or both ears or in the head. It is very common, affecting one in 10 people and can be distressing for a small minority. For more information on tinnitus please visit the NHS website.

Our specially trained hearing therapist is able to assess and treat patients with troublesome tinnitus using a variety of methods such as information counselling, sound therapy (including white noise generators), methods of relaxation and wellbeing/stress management advice.

Hyperacusis

Hyperacusis is the word used to describe a heightened sensitivity to everyday sounds. It can come hand in hand with tinnitus or it can occur on its own.
