Allyship training

Being a part of the UHS family involves supporting a culture of inclusion. To further our commitment to this, UHS staff have recently been offered the opportunity to take part in allyship training.

The Actionable Allyship programme is a facilitated learning experience, using drama-based techniques to inspire people to act differently. The three-hour session is designed to get people thinking and to encourage discussion and debate with colleagues. The session includes:

  • understanding what micro-aggressions look like are and how they play out at work.
  • how to be more aware of your own behaviours and biases, and how to challenge those behaviours in others
  • understand what you need to do to role model good practice on allyship.
  • understand the role you can play to foster and support a culture of inclusion.

We introduced the programme at the start of the year and so far, 300 members of our staff have now been trained to become allies.

You can follow our journey on our social media channels as we share how we are building an inclusive workplace.
