Education and training (scientific computing)
We are an approved training centre for the Scientist Training Program (STP) in clinical scientific computing and have taken on two trainees as of 2024. We also have helped to shape the latest curriculum for this specialism's training program.
As part of the UHS talent management initiative, we’re leading on the development of a career pathway for computer science in UHS, collaborating with others in radiotherapy, pathology, informatics and the National School of Healthcare Science.
IPEM launched the Clinical Scientific Computing SIG in 2022, to replace the previously closed Informatics and Computing SIG. Since its launch, James Leighs has been the secretary of this SIG, helping to coordinate the SIG and assist with webinars, events, and publications.
We continue to contribute to various other training courses including FRCR medical physics training and leading a number of sessions in the annual RSCH medical physics STP computing course.
