Education and training (MRI physics)
We are involved in the delivery of MRI physics teaching and MR safety training to a variety of groups. This includes radiologists in training (FRCR part one), radiographer teaching, STP trainees (imaging with non-ionising radiation rotation and specialism from 2024) and University of Southampton undergraduate physics teaching. We also supervise or co-supervise medical student projects, MSc students and PhD students.
Some example projects are below:
- Functional connectivity changes of the locus coeruleus in Alzheimer’s disease
- An investigation into the correlation between the concentration of iron within the locus coeruleus and hippocampus size for the early detection of Alzheimer’s disease
- Imaging the locus coeruleus in Alzheimer’s disease using advanced MRI techniques
- DCE-MRI in multiple sclerosis during and after infection
- Network modelling of structural and functional brain connectivity in newborns and children
