 When phoning for clinical advice you must have the following clinical information:

  • full clinical history
  • current sepsis status (T,P,BP etc) 
  • details of all recent antimicrobial therapy.

Additional information

  • Foundation year doctors are expected to discuss the patient with a more senior member of the clinical team prior to calling. 
  • Out-of-hours callers will be expected to have recent (past two weeks) microbiology results, MRSA/ ESBL status and relevant biochemistry/haematology results.
  • Between 9pm and 8am, calls must be placed by consultants, SpRs or StRs year 3 or above. 
  • Monday to Friday please phone after 1pm unless urgent. Your calls will be logged and prioritised according to clinical need.
