Patients and visitors are able to access car parking on UHS sites. This page includes a a map showing our patient and visitor car parks at the Southampton General Hospital site, which includes Southampton Children's Hospital, and parking at the Princess Anne Hospital.
That includes:
an orange car park - Southampton General Hospital site
a blue car park - Southampton General Hospital site
a yellow car park - Princess Anne Hospital site
designated parking for blue badge holders.
Car parking charges apply but we do offer discounts for patients and visitors - please see your ticket for details. There are drop-off and collection points around the site and free facilities for motorbikes and cycles.
At peak times parking will be limited, so please allow extra time before your appointment to park, and also ensure that you only park within the designated areas.
Assistance
If you need help when using the car parks, each of the entry and exit barriers and pay on foot machines have an information button that will give you 24 hour access to either a traffic or security officer who will be pleased to help.
You can also contact Travelwise for car parking information.
Our main car park (orange car park) is for patients and their visitors. Blue badge parking is available on the lower level. If you're not a patient or visitor, please consider alternative travel methods or use off-site parking.
Entrance to the main car park is off Tremona Road. Please collect your ticket on entry and keep it with you. Please pay for your ticket before you return to your vehicle. Pay on foot machines are located on the ground floor by the entrance to the car park. This ticket is then used to exit from the car park.
Vehicles higher than 6'6" will not fit in orange car park and will therefore need to use the blue car park or roadside bays.
We've created 300 spaces for patients and visitors in blue car park, close to the neurological and oncology centres and eye unit. Please use the access road from Tremona Road, near the eye unit. You'll need to collect your ticket on entry and keep it with you. Please pay at the pay on foot machine near the exit barrier.
We have blue badge parking spaces around the site:
26 spaces on the lower level of the main car park (orange)
64 spaces in the blue car park
16 spaces under Ronald McDonald House
additional spaces on the roadside next to the main (orange) car park and other entrances across the hospital site.
Disabled parking is charged at the same daily rate, please pay before you return to your car.
There is a drop off zone for blue badge holders outside of West Wing.
Motorbikes can park free of charge within dedicated parking bays. These are located on the ground floor of orange car park and various locations around the site.
Cycle hoops are located near the main entrance to the Southampton General Hospital and many other areas around the sites.
Emergency ambulances are the only vehicles permitted to use the access road into the emergency department (situated opposite the eye unit).
All other vehicles that require access to the emergency department, including cars, taxis and patient transport, are to use the drop-off bay outside of the North Wing entrance. This should be accessed via the main site entrance from Tremona Road
Please be aware that enforcement notices are issued to vehicles not parked in appropriate spaces at the Southampton General and Princess Anne hospitals.
The enforcement charge is the sum of £70 however this is reduced to £35 if paid within 14 days.
The enforcement is part of our ongoing strategy to improve parking and traffic flow - disruptions to this can compromise the experience of our patients as well as important access for emergency vehicles.
All surplus income generated from the enforcement is used to develop parking facilities and sustainable travel services.
For your convenience there are clearly signposted short stay drop-off and collection zones at strategic locations around the site, including in front of the main hospital entrance.
