Neonatal surgery

We serve the whole of Wessex and beyond. Our patients come from the neonatal units at Southampton, Portsmouth, Winchester, Poole, Dorchester, Salisbury, Basingstoke, Frimley, Chichester, Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands and we frequently admit babies from elsewhere in the country.

We undertake mostly intestinal, thoracic and genito-urinary surgery. There is also specialist cardiac and neurosurgery on-site.

The neonatal surgical service operates from the neonatal unit at the Princess Anne Hospital. Some babies are treated in the paediatric intensive care unit at Southampton General Hospital for part of, or all of, their stay.
