General paediatrics

We see children with lots of different acute and long term conditions. Your child may be referred to us by their GP, or from the emergency department.

Our team helps to look after children with complex medical needs who are being seen by other services in the hospital, and children who have been brought here from other hospitals by the paediatric intensive care unit retrieval team.

We give medical advice for children who come in for surgery, and are also part of the team that looks after children where there are concerns about their safety.

Our team sees children in the outpatient department with a wide range of problems, and helps in the special interest clinics for epilepsy, allergy and diabetes.

We have a six bedded high dependency unit, as well as several high dependency beds in other ward areas. We also have a play room and a team of play specialists to help your child during their stay in hospital.
