Treatment

Treatments can include

  • avoiding the allergen
  • treating with medicines
  • immunotherapy/desensitisation - a series of injections of a small amount of the allergen to build up the body's resistance.

Specialist doctors and nurses will take you through your child's treatment programme step-by-step and answer any questions you may have.

If your child needs an inhaler, nasal spray or adrenaline autoinjector (EpiPen®), the nurse will give you and your family training in how to use them.

In the case of food allergies, your child may also see a dietician.
