Experience
Ms Luther qualified in 2008 from the University of Southampton, and her higher surgical training was within the Wessex deanery. She completed her Oncoplastic Fellowship in the breast unit at Southampton, where she consolidated her experience in advanced breast conserving techniques and breast reconstructive surgery. She was appointed as a consultant in Southampton in 2022.
Ms Luther primarily is involved in the surgical diagnosis and management of breast cancer. She is experienced in performing breast conserving surgery, including using advanced oncoplastic techniques. These allow for a larger portion of the breast to be removed, whilst maintaining a good breast shape. She is also able to offer immediate breast reconstruction (using implants). She works closely with the plastic surgical team, and is able to assess and advise on autologous (using patient’s own tissue) reconstructive options. Following breast cancer surgery, patients may be left with an asymmetry between the breasts, and Ms Luther is also able to offer surgical techniques to improve this.
