Experience
Mrs Burgess has been a consultant ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeon with an interest in paediatrics and otology since 2006. During this time, she has helped many children, parents and adult patients with a vast variety of ENT problems. She has a dual practice based at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
Her goal remains to use her extensive experience as a clinician, a mother and a patient to support patients and their families to make the right decisions about their care.
Mrs Burgess is also involved in the development of paediatric ENT at a local and national level and supporting trainees.
At UHS, she mainly sees children and adults with emergency ENT problems.
Ear problems - ear infection, ear blockage/deafness, perforated eardrum, cholesteatoma
Nose - nasal blockage, rhinitis/rhinosinusitis, nosebleeds, adenoidal problems
Throat - tonsillitis, snoring and breathing problems, noisy breathing (not related to asthma lower respiratory tract problem), lumps in the neck, neck infections, hoarseness, swallowing difficulties
Most common operations performed - adenoidectomy, tonsillectomy, grommet insertion, turbinates surgery, septoplasty, airway assessment including laryngo tracheo bronchoscopy, airway surgery including balloon dilatation, foreign body removed, laryngotracheal reconstruction, non-selective laryngeal nerve reinnervation, thyroglossal duct removal, excision of neck lump, tympanoplasty, combined approach tympanoplasty, mastoid surgery, limited pinnaplasty
