Experience

Mr Hamady joined the Trust in November 2014 as a consultant general surgeon. He has an interest in liver and pancreatic surgery and is also the multidisciplinary team's hepatobiliary lead.

Mr Hamady training was in Yorkshire as academic specialist senior registrar. During this period, he has obtained a firm grounding in liver and pancreatic surgical practice as well as liver transplant surgery.

Mr Hamady holds clinics in Southampton, Portsmouth and performs surgery in Southampton. He was appointed as an honorary senior clinical lecturer at University of Southampton to continue his academic research in hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery. Main current research focusing on early detection of cancers, when this disease at curable stages.

Mr Hamady has developed a niche in laparoscopic liver and pancreatic surgery. He has gained experience in laparoscopic common bile duct (CBD) exploration and has developed an interest in the management of difficult CBD stones.

Mr Hamady is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons. He is also involved in training junior doctors, and supervising PhD students.

Mr Hamady's research interests include:

  • Prognostic factors and improvement of outcomes for patients with colorectal cancer that has spread to the liver
  • Pancreatic cancer screening and early detection
  • Improvement of outcomes for patients with breast cancer that has spread to the liver.
