Experience
Mr Armstrong has been a consultant at University Hospital Southampton since 2010.
The hepatobiliary service is a regional service that treats patients in Hampshire, Dorset, the Channel Islands and on the Isle of Wight. It's one of the largest, busiest units in the UK.
He's also part of a larger team of surgeons who look after local patients with a wide variety of surgical problems, including trauma and emergencies.
Key achievements
- Achieving a PhD in the field of pancreatic cancer research.
- Mr Armstrong leads the Wessex Neuroendocrine Tumour Group, which is now recognised as a European Centre of Excellence. He is also member of the UK's neuroendocrine tumour clinical practice committee.
Research
Mr Armstrong has published many research articles related to the pathology and surgery of cancers in the liver and pancreas.
He regularly lectures on the surgical management of tumours of the liver and pancreas.
