Experience

Mr D'Souza graduated from UCL Medical School in 2007. His surgical training was in London, Oxford, South Africa and Wessex. After completing surgical training, he spent two years on fellowship in Sydney in high volume centres for general, colorectal and complex cancer surgery.

Mr D'Souza has a specialist interest in the diagnosis and management of colon, rectal and anal cancer. He offers patients surgery using robotic or laparoscopic platforms, and also provides services in benign proctology, colonoscopy and emergency general and colorectal surgery.

He continues to visit UK and overseas units to stay up to date with surgical innovations and best practice, and received the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract travelling fellowship in 2025 to visit the University of Minnesota.

Research

Mr D'Souza has performed clinical research for patient benefit throughout his career. His PhD was awarded by Imperial College for research in colorectal cancer at the Royal Marsden. His research on the faecal immunochemical test was awarded three prizes in general and colorectal surgery, and led to a change in UK national guidelines. As principal investigator for several research trials at Southampton, he offers patients cutting-edge treatments, including the international colorectal cancer vaccine study.
