Experience

Mr Gardner joined the Trust as a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon in May 2016. He is an orthopaedic surgeon on the trauma rota and is responsible for the 11 core trainees in the department.

Mr Gardner specialises in trauma and elective hip and knee surgery. He has a particular interest in revision surgery for periprosthetic fractures (broken bones that occur around an artificial joint, for example a hip replacement) and infection.

Key achievements

Mr Gardner took part in the Fastnet Race in 2009.

Research

Mr Gardner is involved in a multicentre clinical trial studying hip infection.
