Experience
Mr King has worked for the Trust since April 2009. His areas of expertise include:
- laparoscopic colorectal surgery
- laparoscopic pelvic surgery and pouch surgery
- inflammatory bowel disease surgery
- abdominal wall reconstruction
- colonoscopy
- intestinal failure surgery
Key achievements
- Setting up the modified early warning score across the surgical division, which seeks to identify critically ill surgical patients early
- Setting up a clinical trial, with Professor Ottensmeier, looking at DNA vaccines against colorectal cancer
- Setting up a clinical trial, again with Professor Ottensmeier, looking at DNA vaccines against cytomegalovirus in transplantation
- Setting up the regional centre of expertise for intestinal failure and abdominal wall reconstruction surgery
