Experience

Mr King has worked for the Trust since April 2009. His areas of expertise include:

  • laparoscopic colorectal surgery
  • laparoscopic pelvic surgery and pouch surgery
  • inflammatory bowel disease surgery
  • abdominal wall reconstruction
  • colonoscopy
  • intestinal failure surgery

Key achievements

  • Setting up the modified early warning score across the surgical division, which seeks to identify critically ill surgical patients early
  • Setting up a clinical trial, with Professor Ottensmeier, looking at DNA vaccines against colorectal cancer
  • Setting up a clinical trial, again with Professor Ottensmeier, looking at DNA vaccines against cytomegalovirus in transplantation
  • Setting up the regional centre of expertise for intestinal failure and abdominal wall reconstruction surgery
