Dr Shankar Sadagopan

Dr Sadagopan is a paediatric cardiologist who specialises in congenital electrophysiology for children and adults (treatment for an irregular heartbeat).

Experience

Dr Sadagopan undertook paediatric training in the Midlands, obtaining his paediatric membership in 2002. He then proceeded to paediatric cardiology training in Southampton, also undertaking a fellowship in cardiac devices and electrophysiology here at Southampton.

Following three years as a consultant at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester, he returned to the Trust as a paediatric cardiologist with special interest in electrophysiology and cardiac devices in May 2016.

Dr Sadagopan’s achievements include the introduction of a specialist congenital heart disease electrophysiology multidisciplinary meeting and a specialist arrhythmia clinic at Southampton. He performs complex congenital ablations as well as device implantations such as resynchronisation therapy and implantable defibrillator insertion.
