Dr Michael Griksaitis

Dr Griksaitis joined the Trust in 2011, and is experienced in all aspects of paediatric critical care.

Experience

Dr Griksaitis joined the Trust in 2011, and is experienced in all aspects of paediatric critical care.

He has a particular interest in paediatric cardiac patients and the transport of critically ill and injured children. He is the clinical lead for the Southampton Oxford Retrieval Team (SORT), which is based at Southampton, and the national chair of the Paediatric Intensive Care Society Acute Transport Group (PICS-ATG).

Dr Griksaitis is passionate about teaching and training, both at an undergraduate and postgraduate level. He holds an honorary senior lecturer position at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton.

Research

Dr Griksaitis has been published in a variety of journals on a selection of topics. His particular research interests include:

  • various aspects of cardiovascular and critical care physiology
  • point of care ultrasound (POCUS)
  • the role of ultrasound in paediatric critical care and medical education
  • medical education (particularly the teaching of anatomy and physiology).
