Experience

Dr Sommerlad is a consultant histopathologist who joined the Trust in 2015. He works mostly in dermatopathology (diagnosing skin diseases at a microscopic level) and gastrointestinal pathology (diagnosing diseases of the digestive system).

He also has three clinics per week in the dermatology department, where he does skin cancer surgery.

Dr Sommerlad is involved in training both undergraduate students and pathology and dermatology trainees.

Research

Dr Sommerlad is involved in various research projects investigating prognostic features of malignant skin tumours (features that indicate how the disease will progress).
