Dr Margaret Ashton-Key

Dr Ashton-Key is a histopathologist and cytologist with a sub-specialty interest in haematopathology, gynaecological pathology and gynaecological cytology.

Experience

Dr Ashton-Key has worked for the Trust since November 2003. 

A consultant histopathologist since 1996, Dr Ashton-Key worked at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals before moving to Southampton in 2002. She was inspired by haematopathology whilst working as an senior house officer with Professor Dennis Wright, and further developed her expertise at Oxford and UCL. Dr Ashton-Key's DM thesis investigated the value of new techniques in lymphoma diagnosis.

  • Author of a chapter in ‘Diagnostic Cytopathology’, awarded first prize in the BMA Medical Book Competition, 2003
  • Winner British Association of Gynaecological Pathology quiz, 2007.

Dr Ashton-Key is interested in clinically orientated research, with a particular empahsis on immunohistochemistry and lymphomas.
