Dr Armstrong is a nephrologist.

Training and education

  • Undergraduate training at Kings College Hospital, London, qualified 1993
  • Specialist training in nephrology in South Thames region, 2000 to 2006
  • Clinical PhD at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia, 2003 to 2005, entitled “Modification of Cardiovascular Risk in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease.”
  • Renal transplant experience at Guys Hospital, 2005 to 2006
  • Obtained CST in September 2006.

Experience

Dr Armstrong has worked for University Hospital Southampton since June 2007. She is fully trained in all areas of nephrology, and has a special interest in cardiovascular risk factor modification in patients with chronic kidney disease and renal transplants.

Key achievements

Dr Armstrong's PhD was awarded Dean's recommendation for University reading list. This is awarded to 10% of candidates per year.

Awards and prizes

Dr Armstrong has presented her research at national and international conferences, including oral presentations at the ATC in 2005. She has received a number of awards for presentation of research at both the Annual Transplantation Society of New Zealand, and the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nephrology Annual Scientific Meeting in 2005.

Dr Armstrong has eight first author publications and four second author publications, with two more in press.
