Experience

Dr Rawlins is a consultant interventional cardiologist who joined the Trust in 2016. He specialises in complex coronary intervention, including treatment for chronic total occlusions (blockage of a coronary artery for 30 days or more) and rotational atherectomy (surgery to improve blood flow to the heart by opening a narrowed artery).

Dr Rawlins is also part of the team that carries out transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), a procedure used to replace a damaged aortic valve. He's involved in developing a new hybrid lab setting for TAVI that will enable cardiologists to be able to treat more people.

Together with Dr Andrew Flett, Dr Rawlins leads the Trust's service for cardiomyopathy, a disease of the heart muscle.
