She's a consultant obstetrician working part time in obstetrics and part time as director of education and workforce for the Trust. Dr Mountfield is the chair of the specialty education advisory committee at the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists.

Aside from her interest in education, clinically Dr Mountfield has a particular interest in teenage pregnancy and substance misuse. She shares a clinic with Dr Sarah Walker, and together they run an obstetric team covering outpatient and inpatient work. They are supported by midwives with special interest in these areas, the young people’s maternity practice, and a specialist midwife for substance misuse.
