Dr Jenny McLachlan

Dr McLachlan joined the Trust as an anaesthetics consultant in 2009. Her sub-specialty interests include paediatric anaesthesia as well as orthopaedic anaesthesia, in particular regional anaesthesia for surgery of the upper limb.

Experience

Dr McLachlan joined the Trust as an anaesthetics consultant in 2009. Her sub-specialty interests include paediatric anaesthesia as well as orthopaedic anaesthesia, in particular regional anaesthesia for surgery of the upper limb. She runs a regular pre-assessment clinic for patients undergoing orthopaedic surgery.  

Specialising in anaesthesia for emergency surgery, Dr McLachlan is the local lead for the National Emergency Laparotomy Audit (NELA), an initiative which is driving quality improvement in emergency laparotomy surgery.

Dr McLachlan has a diploma in advanced educational studies and plays an active part in anaesthetic and multiprofessional education. She's the co-director for the Wessex fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) revision course, a biannual viva and lecture-based course for trainees preparing for the final FRCA examination. Furthermore, Dr McLachlan is an accredited educational supervisor with responsibility for anaesthetic trainees completing basic level training.
