Dr Hazel Evans

Dr Evans leads the service for children on home mechanical ventilation as well as the diagnostic sleep service.

Experience

Dr Evans has worked for the Trust since September 2009. Before this she was a consultant respiratory paediatrician at the University Hospital of Wales.

Dr Evans leads the service for children on home mechanical ventilation as well as the diagnostic sleep service. In addition she sees respiratory patients, including those with cystic fibrosis. She is interested in improving patient care through education of other health professionals and service development.

Dr Evans is the child health lead for appraisal for the Trust. 

Key achievements

  • Establishing a regional service for children on long term ventilation.
  • Establishing a regional service for children with sleep disordered breathing.

Research

Dr Evans is actively participating in research in children with sleep disordered breathing and has a number of publications in this area. She is regularly asked to present her work nationally. She is currently co-chairing a national guideline on sleep diagnostics and involved in a national review of children receiving long term ventilation.
