Experience

Gabriella De Salvo is a consultant ophthalmologist and a senior clinical lecturer at the University of Southampton. Miss De Salvo specialises in the diagnosis and management of medical retinal diseases and treats patients with conditions such as age related macular degeneration, polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy, retinal vascular diseases, central serous chorioretinopathy, intraocular tumours, and inflammatory and inherited retinal conditions. She also offers second opinions for complex retinal cases.

As an active researcher, she is involved in numerous clinical trials and regularly publishes in peer reviewed journals. She is retina section editor in peer reviewed journals such as 'Eye' and 'British Medical Journal Open Ophthalmology', and is a recognised reviewer for the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).

She is an active member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, the European Retina Society (Euretina) and the Italian Society of Ophthalmic Sciences (SISO).

She regularly teaches medical students, optometrists and junior doctors, and is responsible for the training of the ophthalmic technicians.
