Experience
Dr Heath was appointed consultant clinical oncologist at Southampton in 2002 specialising in the treatment of urological cancers. She has extensive experience of advanced technical radiotherapy for urological cancers. Dr Heath personally implemented several new programmes at the Trust including prostate SABR, IMRT with image guidance for prostate cancer and bladder cancer, low dose rate and high dose rate prostate brachytherapy programmes. She is also a fundamental member of the SABR team treating bone, node and spinal SABR. Dr Heath also has interests in bladder chemoradiotherapy and radiotherapy for testicular cancer and renal cancer.
Dr Heath is active in clinical research, and has been principal investigator on a number of national prostate radiotherapy trials including PivotalBoost, Stampede, Alsympca and Radicals Trials. Dr Heath was a founding member and executive committee member of the British Uro-Oncology Group, and is an educational supervisor for trainees.
Key achievements
- Implementing prostate SABR, prostate and bladder IMRT with IGRT (image guidance), SABR for oligometastases.
- Implementing the high dose rate (HDR) and low dose rate (LDR) prostate brachytherapy service at the Trust.
- Being a trustee and founding member of the British Uro-Oncology Group (BUG) since formation. The BUG was formed in 2004 to meet the needs of UK clinical and medical oncologists specialising in the field of urology.

- Innovations Fund grant awarded to set up HDR brachytherapy, January 2012.
- British Urology Group 10 year anniversary award, 2014.
