Experience
Dr Akerman joined the Trust in 2012 as a consultant in medicine for older people, having previously trained as a registrar in geriatric medicine in Wessex. She cares for all older people admitted with medical problems from the New Forest area and also runs general medicine and Parkinson’s disease clinics at Hythe Hospital.
In 2014, Dr Akerman was appointed foundation programme director for FY2 grade doctors and she is also the governance lead for the medicine for older people department.
