Shoulder clinic
We run a specialist shoulder clinic every Wednesday from 9.30am to 5pm. You can be referred for an appointment by your GP, physiotherapy, or another consultant, hospital or emergency department.
The clinic is held at the Royal South Hants Hospital, B level, orthopaedic outpatients.
Outpatient appointments
You will be examined during your appointment, and we will plan the best course of action for your shoulder.
When you arrive for your appointment you may need an x-ray, to help us to make a diagnosis and plan your treatment. If this is required, please arrive in good time before your appointment.
We may arrange for other investigations, such as an ultrasound or MRI scan of your shoulder, to be carried out at a later date.
Sometimes a local anaesthetic and steroid injection is recommended. This is often given at your outpatient appointment. It's very safe, and will be fully explained to you. Most people don't find it to be very uncomfortable, and it's similar to a blood test.
