Nuclear medicine

Nuclear medicine uses radioactive materials to investigate how different parts of the body work.

A radioactive material, called a radiopharmaceutical or tracer, may be administered to you which will settle in certain areas of your body. A gamma camera is then used to take images of the radioactive material where it has settled.

As well as being used for imaging, some radiopharmaceuticals can be used to treat disease.

For more information you can see our frequently asked questions and our patient information regarding the tests we do.

Our team

We have a team of radiographers, radiologists, radiography assistant practitioners, radiography department assistants, nurses and administrative staff who work across nuclear medicine.
