Enhanced dementia care ward

A housekeeper making a bed on the dementia ward.

Our enhanced dementia care ward, Bassett ward, looks after people with dementia or delirium (sudden confusion) who are medically unwell and need to be in hospital.

We offer a quieter, calm and welcoming environment, with specialist care from a range of professionals. We're one of only a handful of specialist wards in the country that provides this type of care. We have 26 beds, primarily for looking after people with dementia or delirium, and we also have six side rooms for patients receiving end of life care.

You can find us on H level, in the Princess Anne Hospital.

Visiting

Family and carers are very welcome. Our visiting hours are every day from 2 to 8pm, but these can be flexible if needed so please speak to us if you need to visit outside of these times. Please speak to the nurse in charge before bringing children or babies to visit.

Please do not visit if you have had diarrhoea or vomiting in the last 48 hours. You must be 48 hours clear of any symptoms before visiting.

Contact us

Call the ward on 023 8120 1768.

Unless it's essential or an emergency, please call after 8am and before 10pm to avoid the phone waking our patients up.
