Resuscitation team
We provide a resuscitation service for the resuscitation teams within the Trust, including Southampton General and Princess Anne hospitals. Our team responds to emergency calls from all over the Trust if a patient suddenly collapses, or their condition deteriorates. We get around 30 calls a week.
The team works with state-of-the-art resuscitation equipment including defibrillators with an inbuilt pressure sensor. The defibrillator gives verbal commands to the person carrying out the resuscitation attempt, telling them whether they need to compress deeper, harder, go faster or slower when delivering the chest compressions.
We also audit and monitor resuscitation around the Trust to help us to continue to improve the care we provide. This has shown that our team has increased survival rates from cardiac arrest, compared to other large hospitals.
