Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) screening

If you’re a man aged 65 or older, you will have been invited to be screened for an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). This is part of a national screening programme that aims to diagnose AAAs early so they can be monitored and treated. 

The aorta is the main blood vessel that supplies blood to your body. It runs from the heart down through the chest and abdomen. As you get older, the wall of the aorta in the abdomen can get weaker, and an AAA can develop. The condition is most common in men aged 65 and over. We provide a screening clinic at the venues on this map. The number of men that require screening at those venues determines the frequency of our clinics.

Our team

The AAA screening team here at UHS covers Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The team consists of:
