Anaesthetists (cardiac surgery)

There are 17 cardiac anaesthetic and intensive care consultants in our team, and you may meet several of them during your stay. Before your operation, an anaesthetist will see you to discuss your care.

Cardiac anaesthetists are doctors who specialise in looking after patients having heart surgery or major vascular procedures. They work closely with surgeons, perfusionists and other healthcare professionals to keep patients safe before, during, and after surgery. They monitor patients closely, manage pain, and provide expert care for people with complex heart conditions. Their work is an important part of helping patients receive the best possible care and recovery.
