Isle of Wight governor
Meet our governor who represents the Isle of Wight constituency- Catherine Rushworth
I live on the beautiful Isle of Wight with my husband and grown up children. I have worked for the NHS for over 30 years now, mainly in a neonatal setting. Previous to St Mary’s Isle of Wight I have worked across various other trusts including John Radcliffe Oxford, Cheltenham General Hospital and Royal United, Bath. It is my life and my vocation.
In my role as Wellbeing Champion at St Mary’s, I have developed a keen interest in staff wellbeing, promoting positive mental health and support for overall staff wellbeing.
I am also a patient at the UHS (University Hospital Southampton) where I travel regularly for appointments. I understand and empathise with the extra challenges that Island families encounter whilst accessing these necessary services. It’s important to me that we endeavour to equalise patient experiences across all patient groups.
I am delighted and honoured to be invited to take on the role of Public Governor. I look forward to working with fellow governors, the Board, staff and patients as the Trust progresses and develops, moving forward to the next NHS generation.
