We are delighted to congratulate Dr Katrina Cathie and Professor Keith Godfrey who are among those being recognised in the New Year's Honours list for their efforts to combat COVID-19 this year.

At the start of the pandemic, consultant paediatrician Dr Cathie volunteered to leave her research duties to help patients and colleagues in clinical areas. She later helped oversee the COVID vaccine study at University of Southampton in collaboration with University of Oxford, as well as becoming a lead principal investigator for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine trial.

Prof Godfrey has been awarded an MBE for his services to medicine during the pandemic and his help in establishing a pilot programme for weekly COVID-19 testing in collaboration with the university and city council.
