Miss Caroline Edwards
MB ChB, MRCS ENG, FRCS Tr&Orth
Training and education
Coming from a family background of cerebral palsy physiotherapy led Miss Edwards to medical school at Bristol University, and basic and specialist surgical training in Devon and Cornwall. This included paediatric training in hip dysplasia and clubfoot.
Fellowships
Miss Edwards undertook a specialist fellowship at University Hospital Southampton alongside Professor Clarke and the rest of the high class team. This gave her broad expertise across children’s orthopaedic conditions as well as accidents and trauma.
Her second visiting fellowship was at the Cerebral Palsy Institute of Australia in Sydney. This fine-tuned Miss Edward's training for cerebral palsy with a modern multidisciplinary team approach to maximise the function and enjoyment of life for children with cerebral palsy. Miss Edwards believes surgery is an augment to a great therapy programme. This fellowship also gave Miss Edwards her specialist training in other neuromuscular conditions such as spina bifida, hypotonia and a range of syndromic conditions.
Experience
Miss Edwards is a paediatric orthopaedic surgeon with a specialist interest in cerebral palsy and neuromuscular disorders. She also has a role in Professor Clarke’s congenital dysplasia of the hip team, after having completing a fellowship with him.
Miss Edwards runs a specialist neuromuscular and cerebral palsy clinic at Southampton General Hospital.
